Over the years, we have seen the evolution of fashion; and recently, with social media and the emergence of numerous trendsetters, it is evolving fast. What is popular today may lose its place in the spotlight tomorrow. Every year, or just about every season, sees a new trend.
In the past, pop culture would always play a major role on what’s hot and what’s not in the fashion world. Celebrities, movie stars, models, even political figures most of the time would influence how we dress up. Recently, vloggers all over youtube and Instagram are also getting their way in terms of establishing the trend.
This year has various fashion updates but you may be curious, what about next year? You may want to know which garments to add into your closet and which ones shall be given away to your next door neighbor, not that I’m suggesting you give away only the outdated… but, you know what I mean.
So here goes. For 2019, expect a lot of lavender, purple, and magenta. This is also the same for everything mustard yellow. In the past few months, it has been taking its place in just about all mini dresses (even maxis!), bags, belts, and I don’t think mustard yellow has any plans of leaving anytime soon, so expect it to be there next year.
You should also be looking out to stripes, geometric cuts, and black/white polka dots as they’re making their appearances next year. The same is true for square necklines and dark denim sets that seem to be gaining popularity as of late. As always, florals, in just about any style, will be gaining rounds especially during spring and summer seasons of 2019.
How about the accessories? Remember the cat-eye sunglasses that was quite popular during the 90s? Start hoarding them as they will be showing up next year.
And oh! While I’m at it, don’t forget jackets. Pairing jackets with pants (or dresses) seem to be the trend nowadays and doesn’t have any plan of disappearing so you might as well want to hold on to your jackets for now.
But remember, overwhelming as it may be, fashion would always be an expression of what is always within. Whatever fashion may dictate in the coming year, it is important that you take into consideration your comfort. If you feel like flats can save your day, ditch the high heels. You can always stay in fashion anyway even with flats.
At the end of the day, trends are called as such because they come and go. Your comfort and venue for expression will always matter the most.
